Bundek is the newest city park in Zagreb, the Capital of Croatia. It is located in the Novi Zagreb district, south of the river Sava and has received general approval from tourists and locals alike, for its beautiful layout and for serving its recreational purpose excellently.

Get to know Bundek Park:

This beautiful location was created as a forested park, surrounding two small lakes which make all the difference in what the popularity of the park is concerned. However, it is not only for the lake that people come here, but for the completely relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, for its apparent seclusion from the rest of Zagreb and simply for its amazing and undeniable beauty.

The Bundek Park is not new, though young people think so. Actually, the area surrounding the lakes was used in the ’70 as recreational spot, but since then, it had fallen into neglect, it was only in 2007 that the Bundek area was once again revived in order to serve as a refuge for stressed, tired and bored inhabitants of Zagreb.

Good to know about Bundek Park

Bundek Park is nice to visit for families with children, as this park offers them a great and modern playing area, but for couples too as there is nothing more romantic than sitting on the lake’s banks in a beautiful afternoon.

Swimming and fishing in the lakes is allowed.

The two large parking spaces are free of charge.

The Flower Show is held within the perimeters of the park, as well as many other festivals. If you are there, you may be there to see them.

What to see near Bundek Park.

The Novi Zagreb, the area in which Bundek parks are located is found in the southern part of the city, over the Sava River. This area is a residential one and it is popular for the numerous parks.

Right next to Bundek is the recently built Museum of Contemporary Art, on Avenija Dubrovnik.

All over the city, many attractions await for their visitors: The Grounded Sun statue, which was created in correlation with other statues of planets spread all over Zagreb in correlation with the sun. there was little to none publicity related to the recreation of the solar system, so one by one, many of the citizens were amazed with the discovery. In 2004, locals started to discover that the Grounded sun, which had been in place since the ’70 was not alone anymore. Thus, the search of all the other planets started.

The statue of virgin Mary, located at Karmenita Vatra is said to be the only monument still standing after a fire in the 17th century.
